The Rest of the Hike

The first night we set up camp and had dinner. It was a pretty cold night and we wanted to be on the trail at 5:30 am so we went to bed kind of early.

Before we went to bed we had to get a picture of the girls, Jennefer, Joleen, Janell and me.

At the top of Gunsight Pass there was a huge cairn that people had built up. I had to add my own rock to the pile. As we were headed over the pass we saw three big horn sheep. We saw some pretty cool animals on our journey.

I am not going to lie to you there was some STEEP climbing.

Russell had the camera so we didn't get too many pictures of him, but here is a super cute one. Look how far down that valley goes.

Kings Peak...was just a huge rock pile. Here are Layne and Joleen getting ready to go to the top.

Here is Janell climbing up. There was no trail for the last mile, just huge rocks and boulders to scamper up. You used your hands and just tried to find a good way. Look and all of those rocks!

A view from the top.

We did it!!

We all did it!! Russell, me, Tom, Jen, Roger, Janell, Jim, Layne and Joleen! It was hard, but the company was awesome.

Layne thinking about how awesome Kings Peak was.

After we got back to camp Janell suggesting we go put our toes in the river. Best suggestion ever, it was cold and it felt really good.

Russell and I along the trial. After bagging the peak (a 12 mile day) we slept over another night.

Then the next morning we had to wake up and put our packs back on for the long hike out.

Here is our little ant trail marching away from the peak, the pointy one in the back.

We made it! Janell was taking pictures as we crossed the finish line. The cars were just steps away, and most importantly a cold Dr. Pepper.

I had to put this as the last picture. This was the four of us at the top! Super strong girls!! That was quite the adventure.
