President's Day Weekend

We gave Russell a day on the slopes for his birthday and we followed through. We went to St George for President's Day weekend and our first stop was Brian Head. The kids Sundance pass gave them three free days at Brian Head so we only had to pay for Russell and I so that was great.

I really didn't care if I went, but Russell thought it would be fun for us all to go. I am not good and was nervous about it, but I actually did pretty good for an Old Lady. I only fell once!

 Russ was good to stay with me while the kids went off to the bigger runs.

After lunch Russell went with Eliza and Jack was such a good guy and stayed back on the little runs with his mom. Aiden was sick in the car.

 Then they found us and we did another run together.

Then Russell went with Jack and Eliza and I was done and sat in the car and read.

Eliza is so cute.

So we decided to take Aiden to the instacare because he was so sick and sure enough he had the flu.

So his weekend of fun was over and he stayed in bed for the rest of the time.

The next day took us to Zion's again. This time it was more crowded and we had to ride the shuttle.

 When we got to Scout's Lookout we decided it was too crowded to go to the top of Angel's Landing so we were going to go on the Western Rim trail. But as you can tell by Eliza's face she was done and when she is done we are all done.

We spent the rest of the weekend getting in the hot tub, playing with our Friends the Faldmo's and going to church with them, and watching movies. It was a great, besides Aiden being sick. We missed playing with him.

Russell is 44

I can't believe that we are deep into our 40's! Russell is pulling it off amazingly.

He had is big birthday on February 10th.

He had a man lunch of smoked meats with his friends which let's be honest was the highlight of the day.

He also got some really fun presents.

Like new backpacking stoves! This guy loves a new pot like no one I know. He also got a few other backpacking bits and pieces.

We also gave him day on the slopes with his family. After presents we played like our kids were still little and went swimming at the Rec Center. They all were gracious with us and played along and we had a fun time!

Snow Hiking

This year all of our kids have had season passes to Sundance for snowboarding, so that means Russell and I have had a lot of Saturdays to get out snowshoeing and hiking this winter.

This particular Saturday up Aspen Grove required no snowshoes and not coats. It was such a pretty day and we had the best time.

 I just love getting out with this awesome husband of mine.

We loved the view of all of those mountain peeks...and Russ.

I decided to run down the hill. I look pretty graceful...

 Oh I better take this call. It was Jack wondering when his long lost parents will be home.

A Weekend Getaway

The second weekend in January, Russell and I had a weekend getaway to St George. We had a great time staying at Sherry and Sherrill's house there.

We went to Zion's first thing Saturday morning and hiked to Angel's Landing.

 The hiked started out pretty cold and I was layered up. It was absolutely gorgeous.

  They day we hiked up was not very crowded which was awesome, especially when we got to the chains.

After we got down from Angel's Landing we decided to keep going up the Western Rim trail for a bit and that was so pretty over there. Some day I would like to go a little farther along that trail.

Down to the bottom and another layer down. We had just been to the top. Wow!

That night for dinner we went to Anasazi Steak house. Where you cook your own meet on a hot rock.

It was right up this guy's ally. Then we had fondue for dessert. It was a delicious dinner. We had such a fun weekend away together. When we got home we found the house still standing and the kids still alive. I don't know if they even missed us, but I will think they did.

Odds and Ends

Well January and most of February have come and gone.

Here are a few things that have happened:

Eliza did earn her Young Women's Recognition Award at the very last minute before they discontinued that program. I am so proud of her. She worked really hard and got it when she was 15, when in the past you had until you were 18. Way to go Eliza!!

 I wore mine that Sunday too, so we could be twins.

 Eliza also got her Learner's Permit! 

She is ready to start driving!
