Zion

On May 28th Russell and I celebrated 13 years of wedded bliss in Zion's National Park...without the kids! We hiked and hiked for two days. I think we probably did 15 miles of trails. It was awesome. I loved spending time alone with my honey.

We want to bag some peaks this summer. So peak #2 we bagged was Angel's Landing (peak #1 was Squaw Peak last fall). I hadn't done that hike since I was 14 and it was a dozy. We started at 1:45pm in the heat of the day so I don't know if that was very helpful. But it was so much fun. Here is Russell holding onto the chain so he won't fall off of the mountain. :)

Here we are at the top. It was windy.

I am pointing to the ridge that we climbed across to get to the top. It was cool. What wasn't cool were the crowds. We had to wait in line to hike up and down at some parts. I liked Zion's but it was full of people.

Handsome Russell at Weeping Rock.

This is me pointing to a squirrel on a rock. It was not scared at all, I probably could have touched it. They said that the animals are too used to being fed that they don't fear people anymore. In fact in 2003 a coyote stalked a kid and bit them. Crazy.

We did one trail called hidden canyon and came to this arch. It was cute.

I loved going away with Russell, it is nice to leave everything behind and be able to spend time with my best friend!

A Little Bling

Eliza got her ear's pierced last night!! She's been talking about it since Christmas...wanting them and then not. But the last few days she has been saying she was ready, so we did it!

Here she is getting ready. They let her hold a little teddy bear. She was so brave, no crying or screaming. Her eyes did get a little teary, but she did so good!

All done! She picked earrings like her cousins Maelee and Makia. Little crystal daisies.

This morning she got up and looked in the mirror and said, "I feel so grown up!" She sure looks cute with a little bling in her ear!

Little Sneak

My little sister Megan came from Denver to spend a couple of days with us and we had such a great time. Meg and I were watching a late night showing of Easy A when Jack Simon popped his head around the corner with a big smile. It was almost 11 o'clock and he should have been asleep hours ago. We patted the chair between us and he came up and snuggled. He knows how to get to us...

It was fun having Megan here, we partied like rock stars. That is if rock stars are stay at home moms with three kids! We went to Trafalga in Lehi and played laser tag and rock climbed, went to the Carl Bloch show at BYU, watched movies, played games, played wii, went for yogurt, went to the Brick Oven, and the mall. Sure, that is definitely what rock stars do.
Miss you Meg! Come back soon!

Soccer ...Again

We just finished up another season of soccer.

There was a lot of hugging...

A lot of running...

Tons of kicking

Quite a few quick moves...

And of course a lot of fun!

Build a Little Bird House

Went to Lowe's a couple of Saturdays ago and they let us build some bird houses.

It was a free project and they even gave the kids aprons and work goggles.

Eliza and I worked on hers together. And it really stretched my capabilities. It was really simple and it was still a challenge for me. I don't like to use my mind to put things together, I like to use it to think about when my next Dr. Pepper will be consumed.

Jack wore his apron for the rest of the day, including the soccer games.

These little bird houses won't fit in our souls, but they sure were fun to build!

A Few Pictures

Last month we gave Eliza's room a make over. She wanted a new paint job and boy did she get it. Four different colors. It took about a week to complete it. Including six new can lights. It is definitely a little girl's room now!

Here we are hanging out by the pink wall. We tried to talk her into a new bed. But she loves this one because she can swing around on it like a jungle gym. I don't think that is what Russell had in mind when he made it, but that is what it is now!

Here is the picture that shows the different colors, yellow, light pink, dark pink and a pale pink stripe. Russell also painted magnet paint on her closet doors so she can hang up her art work.

Grandma Liston got a batch of baby chicks a few weeks ago and it was all the rage to go and hold the chicks. I don't think any were killed in the process but they were sure loved to death.

They are bigger now and not as interesting anymore. :) Liza thought they were awesome until they started pooping on her hand.

Last but certainly not least is this fun hairdo Eliza gave Jack the other day. A pair of undies, a couple bows and a clip. He thought it was so cool. In fact he wouldn't let me take it off to go to the store. We got a few looks, but he was happy.
