Jack Turns 10!

Jack turned 10 years old yesterday. All of my kids are now in double digits.
He has been wanting a cabin party for years, he has been watching as Aiden went and now it was finally his year.
We got up there and it was cold! Just a little snow so we spent the evening around the fire.

He invited five friends, Max, Joe, Matt, Troy and Corban.
We had pizza, pop, popcorn, candy and pine nuts to eat.

They played bubble talk, fuseball, and watched Here Comes the Boom.

He was spoiled with a huge gummy bear, nerf guns, money, a chick fil a calendar and card, a blow gun from mom and dad and lowe's xtreme sports gift card.

 Here we are opening presents.

He loved spending a late fun night with his friends. It was a perfect birthday for our Jack!

I love Jack so much and love to see how we grabs life with a smile and is always up for an adventure. I like this picture from his backpacking trip with his Dad this summer. Jack loves to have fun!

Happy 16th Birthday!

Aiden turned 16 on November 30th!
16!!! I can hardly believe it.
We had a family birthday party on his Birthday and celebrated by going to Texas Roadhouse for ribs.
He got a new jacket and snowboard wax and repair kit.
He also raked in the money and gift cards from Grandparents and Family.

He is a handsome boy!

Right after school I took him to get his driver's license. So the next day he could drive to school!
He also had some friends over Friday night and they went to Lowe's Xtreme Airsports to jump around for a couple of hours.

Aiden has been doing great things his sophmore year so far. He ran on the cross country team and now he is going to do track. He pulled a muscle midway through the season and was not able to run as much as he wanted, but he really liked it.

He was ordained a Priest today, and Grandma Liston bought him a really nice suit a month ago, so he is ready to bless the sacrament.

Aiden also has a really funny sense of humor. He dressed us as Kip Dynamite for Halloween and wore this to school.

I love Aiden so much. I told him on his birthday that he made me a mom 16 years ago. He is my guinea pig, the one I get to try everything out on to see what works and doesn't. He leads the way for his sister an brother and does a great job at the example he sets.

Rim to Rim Grand Canyon

This past weekend Russell and I went with a group of friends and hiked Rim to Rim of the Grand Canyon in one day. 24 miles in 12 hours. Russell and I have been training for the past two months
hiking and hiking every week to get ready. I am glad we did because this was not an easy hike.
But we felt pretty prepared and we did it!!

We started out on the trailhead at 6 in the morning, it was dark and cold. But that only lasted about ten minutes then it was light and warmer. So we had to carry our headlamps and coats for 24 miles and I don't know if that was worth the ten minutes we used them.

Russell and I in the early morning light.

There are water stops and bathrooms every few miles along the trail, that was very nice so we didn't have to carry too much water. We had wonderful weather and we found ourselves in the shade the whole way through the box. A section of the trail that can be very hot in the middle of the day. Here is Russell in the box.

We stopped at the bottom at Phantom Ranch for lunch it was over 14 miles of hiking to reach this point. Mostly down hill, which means the rest of the way is up. We got here at about 12pm and the Burgon's bought us all a delicious lemonaide to drink with lunch.  Here is most of our group, Joleen Liston, Jennefer Dayton, Kelly Sundberg, Jim and Janell Burgon, Tom Wright, Me (Russ is taking the picture) and not shown are Jesse and Jodi, Joleen's sisters.

Russell and I. The day was starting to warm up at this point and we had a lot of hard miles a head of us.

Enjoying our lunch in the shade. We tried to snack all day so that we wouldn't run out of fuel along the way.

After Phantom Ranch we got to the Colorado River. That was awesome to cross the bridge.

Russ and I on the bridge.

A shot of the Colorado from the bridge.

Jen, Jodi, Jesse and I just after we crossed.

The scenery was so pretty all day. This is were I started to get hot, from here to Indian Gardens about five or so miles. The trail started to climb and it felt like forever before we reached our rest spot.

We made it to Indian Gardens it was shady and a perfect spot to sit and have a drink before the last five miles to the top. When we got there, there was a thermometer that read 80 degrees so for sure not as hot as the Grand Canyon can be.

This is me in front of where we came from. The dark mountains in the back is where we started and we came all all along the trail you can see in the background. What a long hike!

Hiking buddies Janell and Jennefer.

Janell took this cool shot of Russell. We just had a mile and a half left to go at this point.

We made it to the top!! We got to the top at 6pm. So 12 hours of walking.

We walked the Bright Angel Trail from Phantom Ranch and before that we were on the North Kaibab trail.

I am pointing to a little tunnel that we got to walk through. We got to walk through a few of them along the trail.

Here I am with a section of the steep trail behind me.

We stopped and saw this cool tower that looked over the Grand Canyon and Colorado River.

For my efforts I got two huge blisters the same size on both feet! I have never gotten a blister hiking and these were bad! But it was a great hike and now on to the next thing!

Yellowstone

We had another great trip to Yellowstone National Park this fall. Our family looks forward to this awesome tradition every year because we have so much fun.

Cute cousins Makia, Bowen, Jack, Cayson Cameron and Eberlee.

Glassing for animals is a favorite activity. And through the telescope (not here a different place) we saw a grizzly and two cubs.

We had a big group with us at Yellowstone this year. Cindy and Dean, Nathan and his kids, Richard and Sandi, Cris and Randy, Jean and Jane, Ann and Lori, Curtis, Colette and their kids and Russ and I with our kids.

Here is my sweet family. I love them so much!!

Bridge crossing with Aiden, Jack, Bowen and me.

Dinner time was a little crowded, but Eliza found a spot!

Our hotel had a hot tub this year so that was fun!

 Eberlee and Aiden

Aiden, Russell, Makia, Colette and I took a little hike to Trout Lake. Colette found a friend...

This was the warmest day we had and it was so pretty!

 Me at Mammoth hot springs.

Russell, Jack, Eliza and Bowen....so cute

First Day of School

First Day of School pictures posted a little late.
Time keeps going no matter how bad I wish it would slow down!

Aiden first day of 10th grade. He started High School at Orem High.

Eliza 7th grade at Lakeridge Jr High.

It would not be the first day of school without wearing matching outfits with cousin Paige.

Jack started 4th grade at Hillcrest. All of my kids are in different schools this year and I will never have them in the same school again. Pretty crazy!

The first day of school for Eliza and Aiden was also the Solar Eclipse so that was kind of fun.
