We took our family backpacking trip this weekend to Dean Lake. Russell and Eliza had gone two weeks before on a daddy/daughter backpacking trip and wanted to take us back to show us this awesome lake that we hadn't been to. The weather was perfect, the scenery was breathtaking, and the company was the best.
Here we are at the trailhead looking fresh and happy. The trail was a little over two miles and it was down hill. So that meant coming back was all up hill and it was a little tough with our big backpacks.
Jack got this backpack for his birthday and was finally able to use it. This was the first hike he has done with a a full backpack. He carried his cloths, sleeping bag, pad, fishing pole and a little camp chair. He did such a great job!
My cute kids taking a little rest.
Here they are with their big packs on. Aiden was such a trooper and carried a tent along with his other things in his pack! We have to sleep in two tents now because the kids are getting so big!
Right before Dean Lake we came to Clegg lake and it was really pretty.
So, Russell is amazing and he made us a little pizza for dinner after we got to camp. It tasted really good. The down fall of the night was Eliza getting sick...she threw up four times. She crawled into bed and I was hoping that she would not throw up in the middle of the night and luckily she didn't. The next morning she felt great, that was a big blessing.
Here is Jack dancing around the campfire! We popped popcorn and enjoyed a couple of episodes of the Napoleon Dynamite cartoon on the ipad.
Aiden brought his hammock along. Here are Jack and I,,, two little peas in a pod.
In the afternoon we went fishing. This was the first fish we caught that Jack reeled in. We caught three more but only kept this one to eat. I am so glad we brought the lemon pepper with us!
Aiden with his catch.
Here am I with my fish. Eliza caught one too, but we have that on video.
After fishing we went cliff jumping at Notch Lake. And here is Aiden's ultimate photo bomb!! Eliza was taking our picture and Aiden heard her counting and he leaped and she snapped at the exact moment. It was awesome. The water was so cold and the wind was blowing so it was a chilly experience, but it was so much fun! I loved it and was glad that we all did it.
Here is Jack on top of the cliffs we jumped off. After cliff jumping we went back to camp and Russell's brother James and his wife Rebecca were at our camp. We backed up and hiked out with them, so that was fun. We had a great time at Dean Lake and I can't wait for our next adventure!
