A Waterfall and a Parade!

On the 24th of July Russell got off of work a couple of hours early so we decided to head up to Bridal Veil Falls.  Us, and the rest of the valley. It was crazy how many people were there, but that didn't stop us from having fun.

Here is Eliza in front of the falls.  You can kind of spot Jack in the right hand side in the red shirt with his hands up.  He was following Aiden's trail up the cascades to the base of the falls.  Aiden was long gone and Jack didn't go up too high.  We took a safer trail to the base instead.

Here is Aiden cooling off under the falls.  I thought that looked like fun so I went to join him.

Okay, not as much fun as I thought! It was freezing!!  I could only stay there for a second. Russell was like stop and let me get a picture! This is as good as the picture got. I was out of there!! Aiden has more guts than I do.  But that is really not a shocking bit of knowledge.

Eliza getting sprayed by the mist.

After the waterfall it was off to the primary pioneer parade.  The bikes were decorated and the kids were ready to ride.

This is the crew that has been riding their bikes everyday to the Scera Pool for swim team: Adam, John, Kyler and Aiden.

Here is Eliza on the parade route

Then we had dessert and games for the kids.  Here is Aiden doing the gunny sack race

They had a massive stick pull...Aiden is down at the very end smiling.

And here is Jack and his friend Macy getting ready to pull.  It was so cute.  They also had a three legged race and at the end a few fireworks.  It was the perfect way to celebrate pioneer day.

Zoo Day

Last week we headed up to the zoo for a fun filled outing. It was a crowded, hot day there, but we had a great time seeing the new polar bear and all of the other animals.

Jack and Eliza on the zoo train.

This one is for my mom.  She always is happy to see all of her chicks back at the nest.  So, here are my chicks in the nest.

Eliza by the polar bear.  It was so cool to see that big bear swim and eat fish right in front of us.  The place they built for it is pretty neat.  We stayed there for quite a while watching him swim.

It was hot.  The zoo had these big fans going that were blowing water to make mist.  Aiden hung out there forever. I finally told him we had to move on.

Jack and Eliza by the new sleeping grizzly bear.  The other one was up walking around.

My monkeys in front of a big snake.  Aiden's favorite has always been the reptiles.  He always wants to go there first! We always have fun at the zoo.

Water Fight

The other day Aiden and his friend Skyler came over and said, "We are going to have a water fight". So Jack and Eliza went out in the back with them for some fun. I could hear them talking outside about rules, and teams and nonsense. They weren't even throwing water yet. I casually walked outside, all cool like, and grabbed a bucket ran to the pool and soaked Aiden without a word of warning.  They couldn't believe it.  We were in an epic water fight.  Eliza ran in the house and grabbed the camera. I am glad she thought of documenting such a fun afternoon.

Aiden working the water gun.

Aiden and Skyler

I mean I am in my jeans and everything...they didn't see it coming! But once I was in it was no mercy.

Eliza kept saying she was on "times". I didn't buy it and I drenched her. I mean if you are in a water fight, you are in a water fight.

Jack was funny. We have a little cupboard under the bar-b-que and he was hiding in there.  But he eventually came out and joined the party.

Ahh...summer.

Picnic

Last Saturday we drove up to the Uintah's for a picnic.

It was 52 degrees up in the mountains...we ate in the car.

I think Russell is so cute. He always drives us to fun and exciting locations. And he was a very happy camper because we had KFC, his favorite.

We did get out at the Provo River Falls and we did play in the water despite of the cold, that is why the boys are wrapped up in towels. I want to go again on a hot day.  I think it gets hot one day a year up there...we just have to plan it right.

Happy Birthday America

We had an exceptional Fourth of July. We started out by going to the Liston Cabin on Tuesday night for a sleep over.  We watched the Incredibles...the only movie that has made Russell cry.  Then on Wednesday morning we went to Deer Creek to paddle around in the kayaks.

Here is Jack working it on the orange one.

Aiden paddled all the way out to those buoys out in the background and back quite a few times.

I don't think Eliza got on a kayak, she was content floating in the tube with her goggles on.

Then we went to my Aunt Jane's house for a bar-b-que that she and Jean made. It was delicious. They also had these fun sunglasses for the kids so Tricia, Shane and I had to have a photo.

Then it was sparkler and firework time. Here is Jack with two going at once. Aiden lit all of the fireworks this year. He is getting to be too big.

We also had glow sticks. Don't be jealous of my flower necklace. :) After watching the stadium fireworks blast off we headed home. It was the perfect day!

Mona Lake

Back in June we went to Mona Lake for a family get together

The boys found a huge snake!

I think it was as big as Jack!

Here is my brave boy picking it up....

Oh, and he also held a nasty carp! Fun Times!!
