Final Day- Cascade Lake

This is the smile we woke up to on the third day. The second night we had a huge thunder and lightning storm roll over us and Eliza was pretty scared  but the next morning she was happy again.

Here I am cooling my toes off in the lake. We had to hike about 3 miles to Cascade Lake it was pretty long and we had to go through quite a bit of marshland which was yucky.

This picture is a little out of order it was our hike out on day 4. My pack was pretty big and heavy.

This one is also out of order, it was our first camp but I like it with the moon rising above the trees.

Cascade Lake was probably the worst campsite. The lake was really marshy and quite a ways a way from our campsite that was up a big hill from the lake. Here we our filtering our water before taking the trail on the right to our campsite.

Russell said, "Hey there is a buffalo!" Our first and only big animal we saw on the hike. It was right by our camp.

The next morning we were packing up and he was still there not caring what we were up to.

One more shot of the buffalo before were are ready to hike out.

We made it out alive! Grandma and Grandpa Jaussi came to get us and shuttle us back to our car. They were waiting with donuts and fresh water. It was awesome!

After the hike we shopped for some things to remember our hike, went on a drive, and had lunch at Mammoth. It was the perfect end to our fun filled hike.

On the third day we had Poptarts and frosted donuts for breakfast, potato soup with oyster crackers for lunch and stuffing with chicken (from a pouch) and gravy for dinner.  Russell did a great job keeping us all fed and happy!
