We did a spur of the moment backpack to Dean Lake on July 3rd. Aiden got off work at noon and did not have to work on the 4th so we took advantage and ran up to the Uintas.
Here we are at the trail head ready to roll out.
Aiden and I on the awesome boardwalk trail to get us over the marshy bits. I love having a big strong boy who can carry our tent up for us. One last thing for Russell and I to carry.
I love all of the little steams and wildflowers. Such a pretty place.
Almost to the lake!
Our camp.
Eliza is such a sport. I think she really likes backpacking now. It took a few years, but we got her on board.
I love my teenage Eliza!
Me, Eliza and a leech pond.
Russell got this great shot of the kids with their reflections.
Jack and Aiden were on the salamander hunt at this little lake.
Almost caught the king salamander. He was so close.
Sunset in the high country
I love my family!
We had to get back to Dean Lake to fish, and we ended up catching two big ones!
Campfire
The kids slept out in their hammocks all night (or as the bears call them...tacos). Eliza got cold and the bugs started swarming them in the morning but they liked sleeping in the trees.
We love backpacking with Russell, he takes such good care of us. He cooks all of the food, carries they heaviest pack, and never acts like it is a big deal.
Jack coming out of the water after jumping into the ice cold Notch Lake. Eliza jumped too, but I just got a video of it. The rest of us stayed dry.
Russell
Aiden with one of the fish we caught, we ate the other one the night before.
Time to go home!
