We had quite an adventure this summer. We did a night backpacking adventure into the Wind River Range in Wyoming. We backpacked and hiked 25 miles through the most beautiful country I have every seen. It was amazing.
Our hike in was delayed by three hours because Jack got a tooth ache and we had to backtrack to Rock Springs Wyoming to get an antibiotic. He was in bad shape the first day and night but we gave him pain medicine and soon the antibiotic kicked in and he was able to enjoy our time.
Here we are staring out on the trail with full back packs ready to see some new sights!
We like to rest whenever we see a good log to hold up our packs.
See what I am saying?
Eliza at a trail marker. I liked this shot because it shows what we like to pack in Pringles and Sprite!
This was us by Big Sandy Lake. This was our basecamp for our adventures. It was five miles in and so pretty!
The next morning we started our hike to the Cirque of the Towers. Here is Jack by a little pool that had fish swimming around in it. The view behind him was amazing. On we put our feet in the water and let them cool off here.
Everywhere you looked was like a postcard.
The flowers were in bloom!
The trail was STEEP! We were so glad we didn't have our backpacks on. We saw people who did and we thought they were extremely tough.
A view of the Towers!!
Russell and me in front of War Bonnet Peak. Russell takes such good care of us on these hikes. He cooks us delicious meals like pizza, taco soup, pancakes, bakes cookies, pops popcorn and makes sure we are all taken care of.
We had our picnic lunch above Arrowhead Lake. It was so pretty.
It was impossible to not enjoy ourselves in with these mountains surrounding us.
Taking it all in.
We made it to Jackass Pass!
It deserved a kiss.
Eliza with Lonesome Lake and the Cirque behind her.
In order to get to Jackass pass we had to cross a snow field that was a little sketchy. We were there in mid - August and there was still snow in the high country.
Everything was so green and beautiful.
We had to scramble across a boulder field. Eliza did not love this part.
We dropped down to Arrowhead lake and came across some more snow.
Here is Jack creating the perfect frame of the mountain behind him.
The second day in the Wind Rivers did not disappoint. After our long hike we spent the evening trying to catch chipmunks and watching a movie on the IPad. Ya we know how to do it right!
