I was reading my sister's friend's blog (I think you refer to that as stalking-am I right?), and she had a post about the things she loved about being a mom this year. She was saying how we get caught up in the day to day battle and forget about some of the awesome things that we get to do and see as moms. So here is my list just in time for Mother's Day.
1. I love how when I pick up Jack lately he pats my back and says, "mama"
2. I have liked watching Eliza go to preschool and dance this year. It has given her something of her own.
3. Aiden has been learning about money the last couple of weeks. He earned $74 dollars for a lego set. I like how he talks about how much tax would be, and how he sees it takes hard work to get the things we want.
4. I love reading to my kids.
5. I think it's fun that Aiden likes chapter books now. We have read the Fudge series, some Junie B. Jones, and Magic Tree House books. I like how excited he gets for the next chapter-he might be taking after his mom. :)
6. Jack has changed so much in the last year-from 6 months to 18 months and I have LOVED watching him grow. It's funny how your perspective changes from your first to your third. I'm a little more relaxed with Jack.
7. I like watching Eliza mother Jack. She thinks she can carry him around the house and he's about as big as her.
8. I like going to the store with Eliza. She likes to point out the cute shirts and shoes. "Mom", she says, "Don't you just love these shoes? I better try them on."
9. I loved our vacation last year. We went to the cabin, on the Heber Creeper, Lagoon, and This is the Place Monument. Fun things around Utah.
10. Aiden has been so into Harry Potter books on tape. We listened to all 7 books this last year and now we are repeating book 7. As soon as we get in the car it's, "Can you turn on Harry?" It's been annoying a few times, but overall it's fun to see him get excited about the story. He'll even have us stop it so we can discuss something that just happened.
11. The other day Aiden told me he loved egg rolls at school. I like that he has learned there is other food out there besides peanut butter sandwiches.
12. I love checking on my kids after they are asleep. They are so sweet.
13. I really like going places with my kids. Swimming, to the park, Thanksgiving Point, just places around that you can go for a couple of hours and feel like you have done something exciting.
14. Aiden cleaned the bathroom a couple of weeks ago and after he was done Eliza said she had to go potty. Aiden yelled after her, "Don't mess it up, I just cleaned in there." I loved it because it sounded just like me.
15. I love watching Jack smile.
16. I love reading the scriptures with my family. Aiden has been reading verses lately and so Eliza wants to try to. I love to listen to Russell explain what is going on so they understand better. (He is the BEST dad)
17. I like going on little weekend get aways with the kids. We have gone camping, to Idaho Falls, to the cabin, to Moab, to Island Park, to Mesquite and I'm sure a couple of other places this past year. It's fun to see the kids in different places.
18. I like how Jack calls a treat a "coco". I had given him coco puffs a few days in row in his high chair, now he goes to the pantry and says, "coco" when he wants a treat.
19. I love watching Aiden and Eliza include Jack when they are playing. I like to see them chase each other around the house and listen to them all laugh.
20. I just love being Aiden, Eliza and Jack's mom! Nothing could be better.
