Quarantine

This has been like no other time any of us alive can even remember. A world wide pandemic. The things that have stopped for the Liston's (and everyone else)

Church
School
Sports (track and soccer)
Hanging out with friends
Going out to restaurants
Getting to the grocery store before they close early
Big family dinners on Sunday
Traveling (missed spring break to the Redwoods)
A lot of stores closed
Aiden's job as a lifeguard
Aiden's traditional Graduation (it will now be online apparently)

We have all been disappointed and sad over things we were expecting to do and now can't. But we have also been trying to make the best of this time. We are happy, healthy and grateful for a beautiful home and place in the world to quarantine in.  Russell is still working and that has been a big blessing.

So what have we been up to over the last five weeks:

My sister Megan had her baby Miles K just a few days into this thing at the end of March. The night of the 5.7 earthquake that hit the Salt Lake area. We felt it here in Orem. So that was also wild to have when everything else felt like it had gone crazy. Miles is so sweet and cute and we are so happy to have him join our family.

We have played more games than we usually do and put together four puzzles. This is the only time I could get people to play Blokus. I like it but it is not a family favorite I guess.

We have had time to nap. This is actually the only time Russell has napped he has been busy smoking meats, putting a big first aid kit together, reading about wilderness first aid and a million other things. So I had to take this picture.

But here is little Jack taking a rest. I admit I am the one who is napping everyday. Luckily nobody has taken my picture :) The kids have been going to be late and Jack has been sleeping in everyday.

We have done a few crafts and a lot of school online. The teachers have been amazing being able to get work up online so fast and the kids have been working hard to do all of their assignments. It is definitely a change to have homeschool. The kids really miss going to school and being with their teachers and friends.

Spring is here and so we can at least go outside and play soccer, ride bikes and skateboards and go for a lot of walks.

Eliza has done a lot of crafts and this is her new decorated wall in her room. It looks so cute.

We have gone on quite a few hikes. This was a fun spot up Provo Canyon we had never been too.

Jack and Aiden climbed up a higher and found a cable to help them get up and down. It was a fun place to explore.

This was a fun afternoon with Aiden, cleaning out his room. This pile was from his closet. We took a big black garbage bag full of cloths out of his room. We still need to do a bit more but it is looking a lot better.

Aiden jumped off this bridge earlier in the day, crazy I say. We had gone back up there to check out his daring and the boys wanted to fish. Eliza and I walked (and skated) the trail while they did that.

I am grateful that I get to be quarantining with my family.  It has not all been easy but when we get those moments of togetherness, happiness and connection I know that those will be the moments that we remember when this is over.
