We took a fun backpacking trip with friends into the Wind Rivers. It was the same trip we took our family on a couple of years ago and it was still as amazing as I remembered it to be.
We went with Layne and Joleen and Jim and Janell and we all had the best time ever. We hiked in the first day to set up camp 5.5 miles. After lunch we went on an 8 mile hike up to Temple Lake. It was such a fun day of hiking.
The water pools and up there are amazing. Pictures hardly do it justice.
These are a little out of order, but halfway through our hike it started to rain. It was so much fun hiking in the rain. It was very dramatic.
Jim, Russell and I had our umbrellas which actually worked out perfectly. Russell read about people who hike long distances that use them and I think it was a hit.

We had our ponchos and raincoats so we just enjoyed the rain. And the big cairns.
This was before the rain hit, those mountains!
We couldn't resist soaking our feet in the amazing stream that was running over the granite rocks.
What a fun group.
This was by Deep lake we had a little pass to hike up to get to Temple lake. It stopped raining and we had a great hike back to camp. We made a fire, had dinner and got ready for the next day's adventure.
The next day was another 8 mile hike to the Cirque of the Towers.
Russell carried our stuff all day and I didn't have to carry anything. He is so nice.
We had to hike over some boulders and rocks but it kind of made it exciting.
We are pretty tough girls! Me, Janell and Joleen
We made it to Jackass Pass. Who would not want to go there? It was windy on the pass but the mountains were unbelievable.
The wildflowers and the peaks.
Russell carried and D.P. up for our lunch, have I mentioned that he is the best?
The reflection in the water...what a way to spend the day!
We hiked over to a little waterfall and soaked our feet there too.
Hey crew!
There were some steep bits to climb up.
But totally worth it for an amazing picnic spot.
After our hike we went back to camp had a little rest and ate dinner around the fire. Other than rain we had on the first day, the weather was perfect. The bugs weren't bad either!
Hiking back to the car. Thanks for the great weekend!
Oh and if you think you will have the Wind Rivers to yourself...think again. This was the parking lot on Saturday. But really when you are hiking there are a lot of time when you are all by yourself so it is not really as bad as it looks.
