We took a little weekend trip to Goblin Valley. We stayed for two nights in Green River. We mainly wanted to try to hike two slot canyons just outside of Goblin Valley that we have been hearing about for years. We did a little research on the internet and thought it would be a good one for the family. Ding canyon was...Dang on the other hand wasn't as easy.
We hiked up a wash for about a mile till we came to this cedar tree which was the entrance to Ding Canyon. It was a little chilly to start out the morning but it warmed up and was a perfect hiking day.
The scenery was gorgeous with all of the layers of rocks and colors.
Aiden showing off his muscles!!
The kids in front of where the canyon narrows.
We got to climb over some fun obstacles. Aiden would lead the way and tell us how to do it. Jack and Aiden loved this hike they said it was the best one we have ever done. Eliza was a little less enthusiastic but she did awesome and liked it until we got to the last few obstacles then she did not like it at all!
Jack is so strong lifting up the rock.
My two little rock climbers.
Russell.
My three cute kids. We sure have had a lot of fun with these guys. Life would not be as sweet without them.
We got out of Ding and started over to Dang with this cool peak as a guide.
Aiden brought his hammock in case he found the opportunity to use it...and he did.
What a nice relaxing spot.
Somebody left a rope bolted in to the mountain so it was easier to climb down, once again Aiden tested it first.
So this is where it got sketchy. There were a few major drops that luckily we ran into some nice BYU and U of U students that helped us down, and then the big obstacle. Walls you had to spider to cross a length of water that was well over six feet deep. We had know idea how we would get Jack and Eliza over it because there arms and legs wouldn't reach. And Eliza was crying because it was so scary. This sweet boy named Shane said he would carry them over!! He was so confident that he could do it so we threw Jack on his back and he climbed him to safety.
Then he came back for Eliza!!! He was so nice. Without him we would have had to go for a very cold swim! He was awesome.
These guys were definitely our "Angels" on the trip. It was not an easy thing to do and he did it back and forth with kids on his back!! Aiden did awesome he just scampered across. I don't think we would go back to Dang until Jack is Aiden's age so that we could all get over the obstacles ourselves. It definitely was not for younger kids.
We made it out of the canyon alive and had a nice picnic lunch at the car.
After lunch we went to Goblin Valley and played for awhile.

We had quite the adventurous weekend. That should see us through for a while.
