So tomorrow is Russell and my 16th wedding anniversary! I can hardly believe how old I am when I type that up. I am talking my 20 year class reunion is this summer old. So we wanted to do something fun to celebrate. So my wonderful Aunts, Jean and Jane took the kids to Idaho to stay the weekend with my wonderful parents. I asked Russell where he wanted to go and he said, "If we stay here then we can spend the money we would have used on a hotel at the Patagonia sale." I know we spent more at the sale then a small vacation would have cost us, but now we have coats that will last for more than a weekend. See how practical we are? :)
Anyway for our stay-cation we decided to hike a peak. Mt. Baldy. It was an 8 mile five and a half hour round trip hike. The first 4 miles were straight up. And it was tough!
It was also beautiful! It was a cloudy, overcast day that made the temperature perfect for this hike. It was so green and lush up there.
Here I am when we finally reached the saddle between Timp and Baldy. I was so tired and we still had a mile to the peak.
Here is Russell enjoying his smashed peanut butter sandwich! It tasted delicious.
I am looking really excited at this point because we had almost made it and it was so pretty.
Here we are at the peak! Great view, huh. We didn't get to see any view because we were in the clouds. Soon after this picture it started raining hard and we even had some hail. I loved hiking with Russell up that mountain because it showed me that we can do hard things...together!
I love Russell so much and I am glad that we have had 16 years together...and here is looking at forever.
