So after Arches we broke out on our own and headed to Kodachrome State Park, just south of Bryce Canyon. It was a long seven hour journey from Moab...we weren't quite prepared for that. But we had our campsite all reserved, so when we pulled in at 10:30pm we just hopped in the trailer and went to bed. I was glad that we didn't have to set up a tent!
Aiden and me at Bryce Canyon. The kids were done with hiking on this day so we just went to some overlooks and looked at the canyon. I can't understand myself why they didn't want to go down in, but they were too interested in listening to Fablehaven in the car. A curse and a blessing.
When we got back to the campsite, Aiden and Eliza were still refusing to hike so Russell and I took Jack and had a great time. He at least will still be our buddy!
Three monkeys in the back seat of the truck. Oh, if only they were this happy the whole time!
On Wednesday we went to Peek a boo Canyon and Spooky Canyon. They are slot canyons in Escalante. Russell and I had been their years ago and now we have all been down the bumpy dirt road for 25 miles that leads to the trail head. Peek a boo was so cool, this is Aiden winding through the narrow slot.
We climbed up on this rock to take a picture of the windy path.
Aiden perched above.
Here is Eliza. The formations down there were so wild. I will never go in Spooky Canyon again, though. My claustrophobia level was off of the charts as my back and front were touching each side of the canyon walls, and those walls were shooting 100 feet in the air. Russell and the kids thought it was great. So if they do it again I will meet them at the end!
Then off to Zion! We had to pay an additional $15 to go in because our trailer was to wide for the tunnel. They had to shut down on coming traffic so we had plenty of room to get through. That was fun. I love Aiden, Eliza and Jack in their red jackets they look so cute.
We took the river walk that leads to the narrows and we had fun getting close to the crazy squirrels that live there and aren't afraid of you. The kids also had fun throwing rocks in the river. :)
Aiden and Eliza posing for a picture. We ended our week by going to Mesquite to visit our friends Steve and Lori and their darling kids. It was fun to see our friends and play with them. Plus they had a new 7 week old baby that I couldn't put down. Another Spring Break over and recorded. :)
